  • A minaret in Drniš. In this town Evliya has written down many valuable remarks, which are missing in the hitherto widely used translation of the Book Five. References to the Croatian history and particularly to the cultural anthropology are abundant. For exemple we can read (in paraphrase):
“During the funeral of the fallen warriors at the graveyard of the town of Drniš, their relatives were wailing in Croatian language and praying in the mosque for “our late Croats”. Finally they have translated the sura Fatiha, chanting it while worshiping. The translation was good indeed.”  V, 249.
